今日は川内倫子さんの展覧会「照度 あめつち 影をみる」を見に来ました。
I came here today for Rinko Kawauchi’s exhibition; Illuminance, Ametsuchi, Seeing Shadow just started today.
世界の写真展の公式サイトをのぞいてみたいと思います。
第2回目は、Cindy Sherman（シンディ・シャーマン）のMoMAでの展覧会です。
2012年2月から6月までNYのMoMAで行われた後、アメリカ国内を巡回する予定の大規模な回顧展。サイトも充実してます。

5歳のころは、野球を楽しんだり、お父さんの大工仕事を手伝ったりしてたそうです。
残念ながら日本にはやってこないのですが、展覧会を見たくなるような公式サイトでしたね。

今年で2回目となるTHE PHOTO / BOOKS HUB TOKYOに行ってきました。
The second year of THE PHOTO / BOOKS HUB TOKYO was held this weekend at Omotesando Hills.

会場ではトークイベントもたくさん行われていました。
上は、写真家の方たちが、好きな写真集について語るPhoto Books Loveというトークイベントの様子。
作り手がどのように過去の作品を見ているか、影響を受けているかを聞けるチャンスはなかなかないので楽しめました。是非この企画続けて欲しいです。
I really liked the talk show “Photo Books Love”, which each photographer talks about their favorite photobooks. Some chose The Americans by Robert Frank, some chose The Europeans by Tina Barney, also Daido Moriyama was picked. It was very interesting.
ピクチャー＆ピクチャーのコーナーでは、絵と写真、写真と絵の関係をさぐっていこうと思います。

2012年1月20日から3月10日まで、六本木のWAKO WORKS OF ARTでは、James Welling（ジェームズ・ウェリング）の展覧会「Wyeth」を開催しています。
この作品は、アメリカ人の画家Andrew Wyeth（アンドリュー・ワイエス）の絵画の舞台を写真家が訪ね、画家が描いたものを撮影したシリーズです。ここでは、あえて写真家の作品ではなく、ワイエスの絵画を見てみたいと思います*1*2。
WAKO WORKS OF ART at Roppongi, Tokyo is now having an exhibition of James Welling “Wyeth” from Jan 20, 2012 to Mar 10, which the photographer visited the Maine and Pennsylvania to photograph some of the subjects that Wyeth painted.
Instead of Welling’s photographs, let’s look at Wyeth’s paintings.
ワイエスは1917年生まれ、2009年没。20世紀アメリカで最も有名な画家の１人。
Andrew Wyeth was born in 1917 and died in 2009 at age 91. He is one of the most popular painter of 20th century in the United States.
生まれ故郷であるペンシルバニア州と、
His subjects are mostly people and the landscapes in his hometown in Pennsylvania,
夏のバケーションで訪れていたメイン州（アメリカの最東北部）の別荘地の周りを描き続けました。
and his family’s vacation home in Maine.
著名なイラストレーターである父親の影響もあり、幼いころから絵を描きはじめます。
He started to paint in his childhood under strong influence of his father who was also an renowned illustrator .
体が病弱だったため、ほとんど学校教育は受けませんでした。
He was home-tutored because of his frail health.
ワイエスの絵から感じ取れる静寂感や孤独感は、気候のせいだけではなく、20代のころに、父親とまだ幼い甥を鉄道事故により亡くしてしまったことも関係しているはずです。
Not only the severe weather in Pennsylvania and Maine, but also losing his father and young nephew by the train accident surely influenced on his works.

絵を見てからウェリングの展覧会へ行くと、より理解が深まりますね。
It would be more interesting If you look through the original paintings before you go to the exhibition.
